Youngsong Martin, CEO of Wildflower Linens, has been a world traveler in the last several years. She’s in high demand as a keynote speaker at International Trade and Event Industry Conferences in Europe, Russia, China and Korea. Youngsong studied at FIDM and lived in San Francisco, but eventually set her roots in Southern California. Locally she has Wildflower showrooms in Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, and at her headquarters in Buena Park. One would think that with eight Wildflower Linen and Home Goods Stores stretching from West Coast to East Coast she would have completed her empire. But nope, not just yet…….store number nine is coming soon to Dallas, Texas.
After all her travels her favorite place in the world is still home, where’s she’s the most relaxed, happily looking for her DVR remote to catch up on all the Downtown Abbey she missed. During our casual talks in between dress changes, slightly camera shy but full of excitement, Youngsong walks us through her store. She pulls out her favorite linen. “Who said you can’t mix silver and gold, I can, see here”……..mixed metals.
According to her she’s not a girly girl, which you’d never believe if you saw her blush pink collection of the most embellished and frilly chair treatments. Any princess bride would die for her “curly willow” chair covers. Her latest collection includes broaches, chantilly lace and endless layers of tulle. Youngsong prefers leather pants over dresses but that might be due to the fact that most retail stores and dress designers don’t offer petite. Fret not, she’ll just make her own gowns, “its so much easier anyways”. Youngsong began studying fashion when she was eighteen years old and eventually became a design instructor at Otis/Parsons School of Design. Now, fourteen years after she began Wildflower Linens in 2001, Youngsong recently launched her home line. If you don’t have an upcoming wedding or party to decorate but love her taste and style, she offers table runners, napkin rings, decorative pillows, and bedding in her online store.
