This month I explored beautiful Palm Springs, a unique desert city located in Southern California and only a short 2-hour drive east of Los Angeles. Palm Springs has a rich and colorful history and from as far back as the 1920’s it was known as the “Desert Playground for Hollywood.” It continues to lure celebrities and refined travelers alike with its promise of relaxing privacy and 5-star luxury. Palm Spring is known for its amazing golf courses, natural hot springs, luxury resorts and one-of-a-kind spas. For the outdoor enthusiast, there is no shortage of biking, horseback and hiking adventures. If you love food, your palate will be delighted by the extensive selection of restaurants with world-renowned chefs and for the fashion-forward traveler, there are endless vintage boutiques & midcentury modern landmarks to explore. Finally, be sure to catch a sunset. The array of beautiful colors over the clear desert sky is truly a sight like no other!
There are many options when visiting Palm Springs from large resorts to boutique hotels but I recommend making the Parker Palm Springs your home when vacationing in the desert. It’s one of Palm Spring’s most iconic properties, set on a 13-acre complex and featuring retro décor by designer Jonathan Adler. This chic, upscale resort is only a short 4 miles from downtown Palm Springs and has modern rooms with flat-screen TVs. Larger suites also available with private patios, living rooms and their own separate entrance.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and fun to explore with private gardens, secret paths, hammocks, hidden lawn games and fire pits throughout the property. There are also tennis courts, a gym, a full spa, two outdoor pools as well as an indoor one. The Parker has amazing food options as well. You can enjoy a relaxing meal at Norma’s, the stylish patio eatery serving indulgent comfort food and breakfast all day or you can dine at Mister Parker’s, the snazzy bistro serving classic & modern French fare. Overall, the hotel has amazing design details that make it a truly unique desert getaway.
Luxe Tip: Be sure to grab a drink at the Mini Bar lounge. It’s located inside the Jonathan Adler designed lobby and offers fancy cocktails and a light food menu. The décor is amazing and you’ll definitely want to snap a few pictures for instagram! Also be sure to visit the meditation room in the hotel’s spa, the Palm Springs Yacht Club (PSYC). It’s the perfect way to end a relaxing day in the desert.
