Think French cuisine, California’s bounty, and influences ranging from Japan to Mexico and the Mediterranean. This bird flies far and wide. Little Sparrow Cafe, which recently had their debut on BravoTV’s “Best New Restaurant,” is bringing the flavors of summer to the table with new seasonal dishes in historic downtown Santa Ana. Little Sparrow boasts an eclectic menu with a fresh take on flavors from around the world, whose common thread is a thoughtful focus on local ingredients. Every plate achieves that elusive, cuisine-defining balance of sweet, salty, and sour — even dessert.
Nightly dinner and Sunday brunch are served in a convivial neighborhood setting, comprised of high ceilings, exposed ducts, bistro chairs, inviting banquettes with touches of artwork and colorful accents throughout. Dinner menu highlights include Grilled Prawns with cilantro, carrots, and salsa verde AND Salmon with forbidden rice, coconut curry, grilled bok choy. Not sure what to order for Brunch? Try the Kimchee Fried Rice with Gochujang grilled pork belly, napa cabbage, carrots, haricot vert and eggs. Or if you are a brunch diner with a sweet appetite, the must have dish is the Banana Bread French Toast, with banana bourbon flambé.
Little Sparrow is a small neighborhood bistro with limited seating. The reservation system assigns tables in both rooms automatically. Online reservations are available up to 30 days in advance and for up to 8 guests.
Luxe Tip: For those that stay up late, Little Sparrow offers late-night happy hour after 10 p.m. and wine lovers get to enjoy half-off all bottles of wine every Wednesday.
