Californians who want a taste of Vegas on a whim can head to the OC for one of Sin City’s most popular eateries. Holsteins Shakes & Buns is a contemporary burger concept featuring a creative menu of burgers, small bites, salads & the “Bam-Boozled” shakes that made it famous.
The Orange County Holsteins Shakes & Buns is located inside Bloomingdales at South Coast Plaza. The 11,000-square-foot space features 13-foot ceilings and walls accented by bright and instinctually nostalgic pop art. Guests are welcome to dine in rustic, leather-tufted booths with matching banquettes and red leather accent chairs. Holsteins also boasts a beer cellar with private seating for up to 12 guests complete with its own entertainment area set below the main floor.
Not your typical burger menu when you find Truffle Lobster Mac n Cheese, Ahi Poke Tostadas and Chinese Salt and Pepper Wings on what they call the Nosh Menu. Scroll to the Big Buns menu and choose from 15 Burgers that allow you to add not just cheese but a fried egg if you desire. The savory Char Sui Burger was my favorite with the honey glaze pork belly and cucumber radish slaw. My lunch date ordered the Nom Nom Burger with Potato Chips between the bun and the Kobe Beef patty. Paired with the Frozen Grasshopper Shake (peppermint, chocolate, crème de menthe and chocolate vodka) For those skipping the shakes but need something cold and refreshing, you have landed in beer heaven. They take extreme pride in their beers and believe the can is a better storage vessel than a glass bottle. The beer never sees light, stays colder longer and has less oxygen. Its better for the environment too and they claim it tastes better. But the twist is that they offer over 140 Bottles of Beer! No bottle shortage here.
Luxe Tip: Beyond the main dining area, and beer cellar, Holsteins offers a more intimate private dining room, perfect for semi-large groups seeking a space to host an upcoming event or party.
