GritCycle is a boutique indoor cycling studio based in Costa Mesa, California. When hearing about riding bikes in an indoor setting, there didn’t seem anything too exciting about it other than getting to working out in air conditioned room…until you have for first ride. Then you are hooked. It could take several spins before you figure out your jam, but think deep, think heels. You don’t need to be the best dancer or have perfect rhythm, but if you listen to the beat of the music your feet will just go! You may think its all about legs but it’s a full body high intensity work out with a huge focus on core, posture and even arms. You’ve got 45 mins to tone, burn and 13 songs to enjoy. Music is super important for any work out and GritCycle sure has that figured out. That 3rd to last song is exhausting but gives your legs a break while strengthening your shoulder muscles with light hand weights. All the instructors take great pride in teaching their classes, while NO class is ever the same. You can feel the energy of the other cyclists around you and the cheers definitely get you thru that last heavy incline. Plus the chilled eucalyptus towel at the end of the class are such a perk when you are dripping in sweat.
They pride themselves on employing talented, philanthropic and like-minded instructors who truly inspire our community both in the Saddle Room and out. With a focus on customer service and creating the best indoor cycling environment in Southern California, they motivate each and every client to find their inner GRIT! And Grit Gives Back! Each month, GritCycle teams with local, like-minded charities and organizations to create “Karma Rides,” which are donation-based classes that raise funds to give back to our community. Their instructors donate their time and 100% of those proceeds go directly to the charity of the month. The most notable of their philanthropic efforts would be their annual Gritty Up benefiting the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. This annual two-part event includes a silent auction and party followed by a three-hour ride at the GritCycle studio in Costa Mesa. They have raised more than $583,000 to support the cancer-fighting community.
