FIG & OLIVE Newport Beach embodies a passion for the best olive oils, flavors, and cuisine from the Riviera and Coastal regions of the South of France, Italy, and Spain. The menu highlights the restaurant’s focal ingredient—olive oil—which is paired with each dish and used in place of butter. The company’s second West Coast outpost joins existing FIG & OLIVE restaurants in New York City, Melrose Place, CA, and Chicago.
FIG& OLIVE Newport Beach’s menu is centered on carefully chosen farmers and hand-selected ingredients utilized for their genuine taste and seasonality. Guests can gather at the 50-foot marble tasting bar to enjoy tasting dishes and shareable small plates such as the Zucchini Carpaccio with fresh lemon juice or Mushroom Truffle Artichoke Parmesan Crostini and my favorite, Fig Gorgonzola Tartlet with warm gorgonzola, prosciutto, fig, walnut, arugula, and tomato on a fine puff pastry. For lunch, guests can select a variety of flavorful midday options including a Riviera Shrimp & Salmon Salad and house-made Pumpkin Sage Ravioli. At dinner, patrons can choose from entrées such as Mediterranean Branzino glazed with FIG and 18-year-old Balsamic Vinegar or Chicken Tajine comprised of Moroccan-spiced Free Range Chicken served with Fig, Olive, Apricot, Carrot, Zucchini, Toasted Almond and Couscous. If you haven’t had their Chocolate Pot de Crème with crunchy Praline Financiers and Vanilla Cream, you must order it or you can’t go wrong with their Caramelized Apple Tart. FIG & OLIVE has several rooms perfect for private and semi private parties. The Wine Room can accommodate up to 40 people while showcasing a 48-foot illuminated wine display. The White Room offers the perfect layout for a rehearsal dinner for up to 80 guests. My personal go to, are the cozy sofas in the Garden Lounge room surrounded by a large fireplace.
Luxe Tip: Located adjacent to the entrance is a unique retail space featuring over 30 different varietals of gourmet olive oil that are all available for purchase. These range in flavor from a delicate and fruity unfiltered extra virgin olive oil to a buttery Arbequina from Melgarejo in Andalucía, Spain, and a peppery Tuscan olive oil from Villa Lucia. Other products sold include an assortment of infused olive oils, aged vinegars, and specialty olives & spreads. Great hostess gift idea!
