There is so much efficiency in forever stamps. Yes they are perfectly pre-cut, sold in sheets and offer just the right amount of stickiness to apply easily onto any envelope. But there is such beauty in vintage stamps. Often times the hand drawn artwork is soft, but real sketches. Not like the digital graphics we see today. The color of the stamp may be slightly faded but giving character to each one. And likely you’ll have to take extra time to apply not one but a few to equal just one forever. But it’s all worth it. Many brides are opting for hand calligraphy still so why not take it one step further and order vintage stamps that tell a story. Patrick from Edelweiss explains that his love for vintage postage is genetic. His grandfather Earl (a WWII Vet and small-town Iowa farmer) was an avid life-long stamp collector. His postage collection is vast, and Patrick has followed in his footsteps by carefully curating a collection of his own.
We admire this saying by Patrick with Edelweiss Post. “Stamps are beautiful pieces of tiny art. But they’re more…They’re magical little tickets which allow your thoughts in physical form to fly to whomever on earth you choose. A card is a gift; the envelope it’s wrapping. Make an impression. Postage is a beautiful but dying art form. Our mailboxes have been relegated to the status of junk depositories and checking the mail has become a chore rather than the adventure it once was, fueled by anticipation. I want to help change all this in my own little way… and I’m thinking maybe you do too.”
