I recently visited Dubai, not entirely knowing what to expect after hearing so many different things about this city. One of the first things you notice are the insanely tall buildings and incredible architecture. Everything is larger than life in Dubai. They have the tallest building in the world, the largest mall in the world, fast cars, and an incredible display of wealth everywhere. Perhaps most impressive is The Palm, man made islands in the shape of a palm tree that are now home to beautiful residences and hotels.
I was blown away by the contrasts- you can visit the traditional souks which feel like you are stepping back in time, there are many laws still in place that seem incredibly old fashioned, and then just a short distance away you are in the most advanced, modern city. Everything you could want is right at your finger tips, with luxury hotels, restaurants, nightlife, shopping, culture, adventure, beaches, and more.
Just outside of the city you find yourself in a very different landscape out in the desert. I highly recommend spending time in the desert riding camels, seeing other wildlife, and taking in the beautiful desert scenery.
Overall I really enjoyed my time in this exciting city and would definitely recommend visiting. With so many ongoing construction projects, I look forward to seeing how Dubai continues to grow and change.
Luxe Tip: For a unique view of the city, hop in a helicopter to take in the incredible views! Or, check into the Armani Dubai, which is set within the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. This sleek hotel has stunning views and is located incredibly central for exploring the city.
