Crème Caramel LA, a former farmers’ market sweet booth, has opened a sweet bakeshop in Sherman Oaks. Since 2010, their crème caramels, custard pies, and bread puddings, formed the base of their sweet offerings, but since opening their storefront in September 2013, they’ve expanded their menu to savory quiches and stratas, and other delectable pastries and baked goods. They offer an Afternoon Tea Menu with a variety of baked scone and fresh breads; Zucchini, Pumpkin Spice, Banana Almond to name a few. Along with mini tea sandwiches and Spanish Tortilla with sundried tomato, garlic and feta.
In addition to their fantastic eats, they’ve added a robust coffee program from Cafecito Organico (another farmers’ market favorite). Partners, Kristine de la Cruz and Sean Gilleland, strive to develop comfort food with a twist while providing a community base for the surrounding neighborhood. Not only did Crème Caramel LA open up a brick and mortar location a couple years ago, they have developed a full service catering and dessert table featuring items such as Vanilla Crème Caramel, Cookie Butter White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Salted Caramel Sauce, Chocolate Flourless Decadent Cake, Ube Upside Down Pie (Purple Yam custard topped with bruleed graham cracker/Greek yogurt crumble crust) and Salted Caramel Budino (Italian Salted Caramel pudding with whipped cream and bittersweet chocolate). You might recognize Kristine and her vivacious personality on FOOD NETWORK’s “Spring Baking Championship” and PBS’s “Lucky Chow”. Crème Caramel LA was honored to be one of 23 Los Angeles businesses recognized by Mayor Eric Garcetti and SBA as an “Outstanding Small Business” in 2014.
Luxe Tip: In addition to their extensive dessert options, they also offer a myriad of catering service through their talented friends at Mama Musubi Gourmet Rice Balls, Carb & Nation Artisan Sandwiches, and Burnt To A Crisp Texas Smokehouse.
