Coastal Kitchen, a new seafood and steak restaurant, is now open in the Lantern District in Dana Point at one of the city’s most historical sites. Boasting New-American coastal cuisine, the menu features quality dishes of sustainable seafood, farm-fresh salads, sandwiches and Newport Pride Natural steaks that are aged a minimum 21 days and butchered in-house daily. The menu is rounded out with a regional draft and bottled beer selection, curated wine list, and classic craft cocktails.
Under the direction of the newly appointed Executive Chef Andrew Palma, Coastal Kitchen’s from-scratch kitchen delivers an impressive dinner menu of signature salads, sandwiches, seafood and steaks.
Chef Palma has added his personal touches to the seasonal seafood menu with the following new dishes:
Cioppino (Pan-seared scallops, sautéed shrimp, jumbo lump blue claw crab, manila clams, PEI mussels, grilled Batard bread)
Fried Brie Salad (Crispy garbanzo beans, Granny Smith apples mixed with herb salad greens and tossed with madras vinaigrette, fried brie cheese croutons)
Sautéed Clams (Manila clams sautéed with fresh herbs and garlic and shallots topped with crispy Serrano ham, basil oil and grilled batard bread on the side)
Owners, Michael and Christina Grant both share passions for the culinary arts, and each working in the restaurant industry for years, they had a dream of opening their own place. Prior to opening, they enjoyed renovating the historical building that dates back to the 1920’s and was the first commercial building in Dana Point. Coastal Kitchen’s renovation pays tribute to the building’s historic Spanish Colonial revival architecture. Guests dining at Coastal Kitchen truly feel like they’re at home with the amazing interior design that looks like a beautiful blue-and-white beach cottage. The family-owned restaurant was completely designed by co-owner Christina Grant, who picked out every aspect of the restaurant.
