Recently I explored The Bahamas, a coral-based archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, located just a short 50 miles off the coast of Florida. The Bahamas are comprised of over 700 breathtaking islands and cays, with some of the clearest turquoise water. Whether you’re looking for an activity-filled adventure or a relaxing exotic vacation, you’ll find it here. You can spend your days basking in the sun, reveling in the perfect 80-degree water and enjoying the many sports available including: kayaking, snorkeling, kite-boarding, deep-sea fishing, bonefishing and wild dolphin & shark excursions. Or you can explore on land and take delight in the endless options for shopping, dining, nightlife and gambling! With its warm culture, comfortable weather and breathtakingly beautiful surroundings, it’s hard not to fall in love with The Bahamas.
With hundreds of properties ranging from the uninhabited to the resort-packed, it can be overwhelming trying to find the perfect spot in The Bahamas. I recommend the beautiful The Pink Sands Resort on Harbour Island. Unlike Nassau and some of the other large islands, Harbour Island has a very laid-back, bohemian vibe and overall moves at a slower pace. The Pink Sands Resort embodies this relaxed mindset with a very luxurious feel.
The resort is beautifully situated on a 20-acre property that is surrounded by the lush gardens and amazing pink sand beaches. Guest cottages are painted in soft pastel hues and are wonderfully spacious, secluded and romantic. Every room comes with it’s own private patio and includes modern amenities like central air-conditioning, TVs and WiFi. Each cottage also comes with it’s own assigned umbrella and beach chairs, so you never have to worry about securing your space on the sand.
There is no shortage of activities at The Pink Sands Resort and you can stay as busy or relaxed as you like. The property features a freshwater swimming pool, two tennis courts, an exercise studio and spa. Snorkeling equipment, kayaks and paddleboards are available for guests and reef dives and deep-sea fishing excursions can be arranged through the concierge. There is also an amazing restaurant, The Blue Bar, which serves modern Bahamian cuisine using fresh products and sustainable meats and seafood.
Luxe Tip: The best way to get around in Harbour Island is by zipping around on a golf cart. Make sure to carve out time for exploring the local restaurants and bars. For lunch, visit Queen Conch, Sip Sip, or Aquapazza. For dinner, head over to The Landing or Rock House. All of these local spots are amazing and in close proximity to the resort.
