As a quintessential LA girl, Natasha wanted the theme of her Bat Mitzvah to encompass all things Los Angeles, as well as the night time scenes of various cities around the world. Empty Vase took that inspiration and designed the front portion of the ballroom to represent iconic landmarks of Los Angeles. The Santa Monica Pier backdrop was the most fun which allowed for the creation of a custom pier long table with pilling as legs, as well as a Ferris wheel with Natasha’s name in lights. In the main ballroom, Empty Vase used 90′ video screens covering the sides of the ballroom and projected major cities at night–simulating driving through Los Angeles, New York, Paris and London. The candle lighting was a Plexiglas moon that came down from the ceiling, and suspended over the floor was a 32′ ring of floral clouds. To complete the main ballroom design, we had moving stars over the dance floor and ceiling to give an etherial glow to the room.
The details did not stop there! The custom bars were created using specialty tufted fabric on the front to mirror the ceiling draping and then a stunning floral field of orchids, roses and hydrangeas suspended in Plexiglas made for the ultimate 16′ center bar. To create the food stations, images of the Staples Center and Hollywood Hills were enlarged to cover the sides of the room and then floral letters on stands were added. The specialty bar in the foyer was an underwater element of submerged florals in custom made tanks–incredible!
Luxe Tip: When creating a really customized space, don’t forget to carpet! Creating a neutral, consistent and smooth flooring look brings the room together and unifies the entire look of the room with a flawless finish!
